17/B – Thornback ray - Raja clavata

A fish with a cartilaginous skeleton it is quite common on beds with coarse debris where, thanks to its grey body with brown and white spots, it is difficult to detect. Its favorite prey is mollusks, worms and small echinoderms. It can be approached, especially at night; from close up its eyes can be seen, which are decorated by an unusual and artistic cutaneous lace.
